About the 1950 Triumph Tiger 100Touring trim After a tantalisingly brief pre-war appearance in 1939, Triumph's Tiger 100 was re-introduced in 1946, although postwar strictures meant that demand for the sports variant of the 500cc Speed Twin outran supply for some years. The postwar T100 was equipped with Triumph's new telescopic front fork and, from 1947, sprung hub rear suspension was an option. This compact feature, exclusive to Triumph, enclosed springing within the hub, allowing it to move up and down independently of the wheel spindle. For 1951, a lighter all-alloy 500cc engine replaced this type with its cast iron cylinder and cylinder head.
